With the state of the world, the lockdowns, etc, I think folks need something that is uplifting, and Oblivion is definitely not uplifting. I am sure some will find this fun/interesting, but I fear the core will not.Īlso, I wonder if psychologically folks will be turned off by Oblivion. The game seems to be morphing into something it was not designed to be. I hope this is not the case, but I am seeing a lot of pushback with this next chapter, not just here, but on steam, in zone, guildies. It looks quite promising for those looking to scratch that MMO itch without having to get reemed by Kakao or Pearl Abyss again.YupIf they continue down the path of eliminating the trinity, continue charging insane amounts of little content, fail to fix the issues in regards to servers etc (I know they are getting new servers, but that in and of itself will not solve the issues we see) I do see a relatively large decline in the population. Leadership changed, they regrouped, and came to the decision to start another private server. TL DR regarding what happened to OgreFest is they had critical hardware failure that resulted in the loss of crucial player data, and because of how much was lost they made the decision to shut down the server. I hope you’re all looking forward to this as much as we are, and we hope to see you on Crimson Desert. Thus, if in a worst case scenario everything else fails, your progress will remain. In addition to this, we’re going to allow our players to download copies of their own characters data. We’re completely redoing how we did our backups, in a way where no matter what happens, Crimson Desert will never have to disappear. We’re going to make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Our team will be trained to be capable of more complex work, and provide you with better service all around. This will allow us to develop fun new content for you guys, while also improving our infrastructure. We’re expanding our team by getting new developers. In addition to this, we’re taking a few more concrete steps. We have gotten a lot of valuable feedback from you over the past few days, and we will be using this to make sure our new server is the best it can be. Our focus with the new server will be taking everything that you loved about OgreFest and improving upon it. We are very excited to see our ideas and plans come to fruition, and we are certain that you, the community, will as well! There are still many details that needs to be worked out until our launch, so this is our way of putting the word out there to those of you who have kindly supported us during these hard times. Since we acquired OgreFest back in 2017 we have consistently been working on improving the existing foundation that the server and community had been built upon, and while we are happy with how far we have come, there are still many things that we wish that we could have changed from day one.Ĭrimson Desert will be our opportunity to be there from day one and establish a solid foundation for the future of the project. There isn't a lot of news yet on the specifics of the server, but there are currently 18k people in the Discord, so population will definitely be healthy.Īfter several days of deep discussion within the team, we have come to a consensus that we wish to continue doing what we love, and thus, Crimson Desert has been born. Crimson Desert Online (formerly known as OgreFest) is opening this month.
